Transitional Housing & Healing Program
Returning Home: Phase II – Building Foundations for Life, Culture, and Connection
R.O.A.R. is developing a Second- and Third-Stage Transitional Housing program to support Indigenous adults who are completing detox, treatment, or early recovery and are ready for stable, sober, culturally grounded housing. This project bridges our land-based healing model with long-term independent living, ensuring continuity, safety, and community connection.
The program will secure a townhouse-style or motel-style property — such as the Bulkley Motel in New Hazelton — to create a healing-centered residence offering:
• 10–14 self-contained suites
• Safe, sober, culturally grounded housing
• Trauma-informed counselling
• Case management & peer navigation
• Life skills, budgeting & employment readiness
• Cultural activities, ceremony, and on-the-land learning
• Monthly harvesting trips with Elders
• Support transitioning into permanent housing
Residents commit to sobriety, wellness planning, and active participation in cultural and healing programs. Stays range from 6–12 months.
