Walking Alongside Individuals, Families, and Communities
R.O.A.R.: Reclaiming Our Ancestral Roots Society provides community-based advocacy, peer navigation, outreach, and practical support to individuals and families experiencing barriers to essential services.
As an Indigenous-led nonprofit organization, ROAR brings together lived and living expertise, cultural understanding, and relationship-based approaches to support people from all backgrounds.
Indigenous Boots on the Ground
Our Indigenous Boots on the Ground initiative provides culturally grounded, person-centred peer navigation and outreach services.
We meet people where they are, listen to their needs, respect their choices, and help them navigate the systems and resources available to them.
How We Support Community Members
Advocacy & Systems Navigation
Helping individuals understand available services, communicate with service providers, access resources, and advocate for their needs.
Mental Health, Addictions & Recovery Navigation
Supporting connections to counselling, detoxification, treatment, recovery programs, harm reduction resources, and ongoing wellness supports.
Housing & Community Resource Referrals
Assisting individuals with identifying housing resources, accessing community services, and navigating available support systems.
Practical Support & Accompaniment
Helping people prepare for appointments, complete service-related paperwork, coordinate transportation resources, and connect with appropriate providers when available.
Cultural Wellness & Community Connection
Providing opportunities for culturally grounded support, Healing Circles, community participation, and connection with cultural resources and Knowledge Keepers.
Our Approach
ROAR recognizes that people often face multiple barriers when seeking assistance. Navigating complicated systems can be overwhelming, particularly when individuals are experiencing trauma, poverty, housing instability, mental health challenges, or substance use.
Our approach prioritizes dignity, cultural safety, trust, self-determination, and continuity of care.
We work alongside existing healthcare providers, community organizations, and social services to strengthen access to support rather than duplicate their work.
Building Stronger Communities Together
ROAR welcomes opportunities to collaborate with community organizations, health centres, Indigenous governments, and service providers to improve accessibility and strengthen coordinated care.
Together we make a difference.
