Our Story

R.O.A.R.: Reclaiming Our Ancestral Roots Society was officially incorporated on October 9, 2024, marking the birth of a First Nations-led movement dedicated to cultural healing, advocacy, and Indigenous-led outreach.
Soon after incorporation, R.O.A.R. received its first grant — the Cold Weather Necessity Grant from Health & Housing Interior Health for $5,000, which went toward purchasing and distributing warm gear to our most vulnerable relatives across Kelowna.
That first winter, we walked through the snow handing out gloves, toques, jackets, and socks — not just offering warmth, but dignity, care, and connection.
That small act of compassion planted the seed that would grow into our most transformative initiative yet — Indigenous Boots on the Ground.
